Balance and Restore

There is no limit to how healthy and energized we can feel; it is my belief that our behavior can be the greatest obstacle to living a long and healthy life. Although our genes and genetics are one predictor of our lifespan, I think that the single greatest determinants for living a long, healthy life are based on our lifestyle and habits.

For the next four weeks, we are going to focus on four major interrelated areas in which we can improve our health: Detox/Sleep, Energy/Stress, Nutrition/Immunity, and Heart/Brain Power. Not only will we give you an introduction of each area and how each can be improved and balanced in your life, but we will also send you advice and easy tips that can help you along the way.

As we guide you through our program, you will experience a revitalization of your energy and learn healthful habits that will set you on the path for a long, happy life. The health that we enjoy today is the cumulative result of all our past choices, so the first question is… which of your current habits are preventing you from achieving health and well-being?

As we focus on developing new positive behaviors, we will be able to override older negative habits. Remember it takes a month to create a habit, but only three days to lose it. Our bodies were designed to last 100 years—so let us get out of our way and let our bodies do what they do best, which is to live!

SELF EVALUATION

Answer yes or no to the following statements.

  • I wake up feeling tired.

  • I don’t have enough energy to exercise.

  • My food choices need improving.

  • I get lightheaded if I move too quickly

  • I am not motivated to improve

  • I feel spacey and cannot concentrate.

  • I am worried and anxious.

  • I get cold or sweaty

  • It is an effort for me to be social.

  • In general, I do not feel very well.

How many times did you answer yes or no? If you answered yes to most of the questions, your body could be out of balance.

Were you surprised by the results of your self-evaluation? Regardless of your score, are there areas in which you would like to make some changes in your health? Which healthful habits are you most interested in achieving: more energy, better motivation, improved nutrition? Now it is time to take your thoughts to paper and list the three new habits that are your top priorities and why are these habits of particular importance to you?
