Patient Testimonial: My Healing Journey with Kathleen MacDonald

I was referred to Dr. Mao 25 years ago for the treatment of my son who was recovering from meningitis. Although his doctors said he would be mentally impaired, my son has graduated with a degree in biochemistry and is applying to medical school. Over the years I stayed in touch with Dr. Mao and about ten years ago I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer so I saw Dr. Mao before surgery to boost my general health.

It was a complicated procedure and my doctors urged me to go on chemo and radiation, plus Tamoxifen afterward, which I refused. Instead, I went back to see Dr. Mao a week after surgery and asked him to prescribe a herbal formula to support healthy estrogen balance.

I have been involved in Dr. Mao’s cancer support program ever since, and plan on doing it for the rest of my life. I’m now ten years in remission. I returned to work three weeks after my surgery. My energy level came back way faster than everyone thought it would, although I had pain and difficulty moving my right arm due to scar tissue. The surgeon and oncologist told me that I would never be able to raise my arm above my head and that I would have horrible lymphedema so I should not fly. With Dr. Mao’s treatments, my arm is normal and pain-free, the swelling is gone, and I never stopped flying.

Throughout my journey to recovery, Dr. Mao put me on an anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer diet. We worked on detoxification with dry skin brushing, cupping, lymphatic tuina massage, and far-infrared heat therapy to flush anesthesia from my body. Dr. Mao also advised that I practice meditation and tai chi which I completely jumped into and made part of my life-affirming activities.
